Learn about Sapphires!

Sapphires

I wanted to talk about Sapphires, to share more about them and their many sides. I also wanted to talk about quality, one of the things I hear all the time, that is not true about Sapphires is that the darker the color the better the quality. The truth behind this is you do want some dark color but you also want some light color the mixture creates a beautiful look and is called a Ceylon Sapphire. There is also one quality even nicer than that and it is called a Kashmir Sapphire these are much rarer and very expensive.

Most local jeweler store like us only like to use Ceylon Sapphires but most big companies and box stores like to use lower quality sapphires that are so dark they are almost black, these stone are not showing the true color of a sapphire and are not worth the price these stores put on them. Most big box stores also do not use natural stones they use lab-grown gems.

Sapphire also come in many other colors than just blue. They come in Purple, Pink, Yellow, Green, and White. These colors are rarer but can still be easily sourced.

Sapphires create a great alternative to the traditional diamond, do to their durability and strong brilliant color.

We have some stunning Purple, Pink, and Yellow Sapphires in stock alongside our normal Ceylon Blue Sapphires.

More Nerd Notes Below

Sapphires base material is Corundum a very hard material that is 9 on the Mohs Hardness Scales. The stone actually changes color when it has different amounts impurities change the color of the stone. Corundum without any impurities is called White Sapphire. A Fun Fact: Ruby is also made of the same material
